A Vedic birth chart is divided into twelve houses (Bhavas), each governing a specific domain of life. The 1st house (Lagna) represents your core identity and physical constitution. The 7th house governs marriage and partnerships. The 10th house rules career and public reputation. The placement of planets across these houses creates a unique fingerprint that shapes your tendencies, talents, challenges, and timing of major life events.

Beyond house placements, your chart reveals your Nakshatra (birth star), which is determined by the Moon's exact position among the 27 lunar mansions. Your Nakshatra defines your emotional temperament and mental disposition more precisely than your Rashi (Moon sign) alone. The chart also establishes your Vimshottari Dasha sequence — the planetary period timeline that governs which planet's themes dominate at each stage of your life.

Kaala's calculation pipeline begins with geocoding your birth location to precise latitude and longitude coordinates using Google Places API, ensuring accuracy even for small towns and villages. Your birth time is then resolved to the exact UTC offset valid at that location on your date of birth, accounting for historical timezone changes and daylight saving transitions.

Swiss Ephemeris computes the true sidereal longitude of all nine Vedic planets — Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu — using the Lahiri Ayanamsa correction. House cusps are calculated using the Placidus or Whole Sign system. The result is a complete chart showing each planet's degree, sign, Nakshatra, Nakshatra pada, and house placement. This data feeds into further calculations including Navamsa (D9), Vimshottari Dasha periods, Yoga detection, and Dosha analysis.

Vedic astrology is extraordinarily sensitive to birth time precision. A difference of just four minutes shifts the degree of the Ascendant by approximately one degree, which can change the Ascendant's Nakshatra pada and alter Dasha timing by months. An error of thirty minutes can change the Lagna sign entirely, resulting in a completely different chart with different house lordships, Yogas, and predictions.

This is why Kaala uses Swiss Ephemeris rather than simplified calculation methods. The Moshier analytical ephemeris built into Swiss Ephemeris provides planetary positions accurate to 0.001 arcseconds for dates between 3000 BCE and 3000 CE. Combined with precise geocoding and historical timezone data, Kaala produces charts that match or exceed the accuracy of traditional Panchangam calculations performed by experienced Jyotishis.

After generating your chart, you will see the North Indian style Kundli diagram showing all nine planets placed in their respective houses. Each planet is displayed with its sidereal longitude in degrees, minutes, and seconds, along with its Nakshatra and pada. The chart also shows the Lagna (Ascendant) degree, which is the most time-sensitive point in the horoscope.

Below the chart, Kaala displays a planetary position table with detailed information for each Graha including sign placement, exact degree, Nakshatra, Nakshatra lord, house position, and whether the planet is in a friendly, neutral, or enemy sign.
